Saying Goodbye Together

On March 11th, 2011 family, friends, his congregation and acquaintances said goodbye to Joachim Arend.

We started under this point in the menu originally in the freely accessable portion with just the schedule for the day as well as the map to help you travel between church, cemetery and reception. Afte the funeral service had been held we published here also the eulogies by Ariane and Karsten and later the sermon.  The photo of the Goodbye compiled by Jane Evans was greatly appreciated, but because of its private nature moved to the restricted acces area shortly after being published here.  Starting on March 25th the rest of the subpages followed for the same reason.  If you would like to view these pages please log-in here.  You can get log-in infos by contacting us at info(at)j-arend.ca.

Thank you so much, Robert Pilon for the most wonderful presentation of these three beautiful songs.  One could feel and actually hear that you were not only singing these words, that your heart was in it, making it even more upbuilding than your dynamic, rich, warm, well modulated, powerful and yet natural voice could have done alone.  Thank you for directing the thoughts - of many I assume - to God in such a powerful and sensitive way at the funeral of our dad and husband, who had been so grateful to God.  He would have loved your rendition.

Thank you to Pastor Hanssmann and Pastor Hartwig for speaking words, that were meaningful on a human as well as a spiritual level.  It would have been good if all of the people attending would have understood these words but that was not possible because of the language barrier.  But all people words were spoken to and all saw that you had a message to convey even if they may not have understood it because of this language issue.

Last but not least we would like to tell those that attended how much we appreciated the many people who gave of their time to say goodbye with us.  Despite of the authors' of this website having been strangers in your midst, we felt how you helped carry us through.  Afterwards at the reception we like everybody else had a chance to mingle and it too was a beautiful time, meeting kind people to share thoughts, feelings, convictions and dreams with.  THANK YOU ALL from all of us.
