Our guestbook was opened just a few days ago. Many entries would help us in these sad hours, as we hope, that you, dear reader, would have had many good memorable experiences with our father / husband, just as we are very grateful for everything he has done for us. - Many thanks from our hearts for the personal words with which we and others are being comforted by those that have already shared their thoughts here. It is such a diversity, from loving details about our father and husband - that made us smile despite our grief, seeing what you saw, when he was still alive - to heartfealt words of condolence that help us handle the loss in another way. In any way, THANK YOU for sharing and helping in such a personal and thoughtful way!!!

I was incredibly saddened to hear that Mr. Arend (as I always called him since I was little) passed away. I have such fond memories of him, his strong handshakes, warm and welcoming personality, and hearty appetite -- especially that particular glitter of excitement when desserts were served after dinner. I will miss him greatly, as I am sure all of you do.
Mrs. Arend, Arianna, Karsten, and the rest of the family: My sympathies and condolences to you in your time of loss. Please let us know whatever we can do to help.
With Love
Jeff Li

To all of the Arend family, Lisa and I are so sorry for your loss. Over the years, I have many fond memories of Joachim Arend. He was a kind and caring man with such a sense of honour (as well as humour). He will be sincerely missed, but always remembered. We are sending you love and strength during this difficult time.
